Integrating Gender Sensitive Heat Adaptation Plans in the climate policy and guidelines of selected cities in South Asia<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

IRADe is pleased to announce its new project on “Integrating Gender Sensitive Heat Adaptation Plans in the climate policy and guidelines of selected cities in South Asia<\/strong>” funded by Asia- Pacific Network (APN). This project aims to support South-Asia\u2019s medium-term development planning especially in prioritizing and integrating adaptive resilience within the agenda of climate resilient smart cities. It will disseminate knowledge on heat stress management strategies including the development of spatially differentiated and gender sensitive Heat Adaptation Plan (HAP) in South Asian countries of Sri Lanka (Colombo), India (Surat) and Bangladesh (Rajshahi).<\/span><\/p>\n

Process, Analysis, Observations and Modelling \u2013 NERC Integrated Solutions for Cleaner Air for Delhi, PROMOTE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

PROMOTE is a collaborative project between UK and Indian research institutes which aims to reduce uncertainties in air quality predictions and forecasting for Delhi by undertaking process oriented observational and modelling analyses<\/strong> and then to derive sensitivity relationships linking air pollutant concentrations and emission controls. This new knowledge will be critical to formulate effective mitigation solutions for reducing air pollution<\/strong> over Delhi and surroundings regions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Project outcomes will deliver new knowledge on how local, urban and regional [Long Range Transport (LRT)] sources of air pollution<\/strong> affect Delhi\u2019s air quality. With an improved OA scheme and improved understanding of BL dynamics, sensitivities between air pollutant concentrations and changes in local (e.g. traffic, industrial) and regional (LRT) contributions will be quantified with a new coupled multi-scale modelingsystem<\/strong> for recommending interventions and mitigation options for Delhi. To study the same, four aerosol monitors procured from University of Hertfordshire (UH) were installed: Two at IRADe, Malviya Nagar (Residential, road side) and the other two at The Mother\u2019s International School, Sri Aurobindo Marg (Road side, heavy traffic area).<\/span><\/p>\n

IRADeplays crucial role in informing air pollution <\/strong>mitigation strategies for Delhi which is based on detailed sensitivity analysis to quantify the response of air pollution to local and regional emission controls for current as well as for future (2030\/2050). \u201cDelhi Air Quality Forecast and Health Advisory<\/strong>\u201d has been distributed among school children and RWAs (Resident Welfare Associations) to raise awareness.<\/span><\/p>\n
